Tankiso is a professional who has an extensive experience in both the private sector, the public sector and research. He has worked as a trainee accountant in the University setting. In the public sector, Tankiso worked with the government statistics and the private sector statistics developing the first generally recognised accounting practices (GRAP) compliant questionnaire (for the public sector) and IFRS based questionnaire for the private sector statistics.
In the private sector, Tankiso has worked in management accounting and later in Risk Management. His responsibilities in Risk Management included internal audit findings management (managing actions), risk management (identification, evaluation and risk reporting), Business Continuity Management, Insurance and market analysis. In addition to this, Tankiso has participated in several assurance sub-committees.
In conjunction with Professor Barac (University of South Africa), Tankiso collaborated and wrote several academic papers which were published in several accredited journals.
A further collaboration between Tankiso, Professor Barac (University of South Africa), Professor Marx (University of Johannesburg) saw their paper being published in the Journal of Economics and Financial Analysis.
He has also presented in a conference setting.
Academically, Tankiso has obtained two Masters degrees in Financial Management (University of London) and in Accounting (University of South Africa). He has also obtained an Honours Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and a Bachelor of Commerce degree both with the University of South Africa.
Tankiso is a qualified and registered accountant with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants, a Certified Risk Analysts with the International Academy of Financial Management and a Sustaining PRMIA member.
He is currently working on his PhD with research interest in South African banks.
